Apprenticeship Level 3 – Refrigeration air conditioning and heat pump engineer

We have an apprenticeship vacancy for a Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump engineering technician.

We have a highly qualified engineer who is committed to sharing their wealth of knowledge with you. They’ll take you under their wing and guide you through the intricacies of the industry. You’ll be right there with him, getting your hands dirty, learning how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot refrigeration and air conditioning systems. We’re not just interested in training you; we want to see you thrive. As you gain skills and confidence, we’ll support your growth within the company and perhaps in the end you decide to stay with us as a full time employee.

Contract: 36 month apprenticeship
Hours of Work: 4 days on site and 1 day in college (08:00 to 16:30)
Travelling: Must be able to make their own way to the location or pick up points on time
Holidays: tbc
Probation: 3 months

The apprentice will support and learn from their supervisor engineer any of the following, every day can be very different.  

  • Working on split system and technical service and troubleshooting experience.
  • Learning about different types of commercial air conditioning plant including modern and older split systems, close-control equipment and some packaged chiller & associated equipment and controls
  • Gain technical knowledge and experience of working on light commercial refrigeration plant, including cellar coolers, cold-rooms, undercounter fridges, ice machines etc.
  • Learning efficient diagnostic skills and reporting
  • A practical understanding of heating and ventilation systems generally, within a commercial building services environment
  • Learn how to carry out general planned maintenance works to HVAC plant & equipment
  • Learn to manage and maintain accurate and up to date records of all work carried out on plant and equipment utilising our field service software system and some paper-based site logs where necessary.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, customers and work as part of a team.
  • Become confident in the up to date with all relevant legislation.

Please note the successful apprentice will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check which is essential for our works in schools, colleges and health clinics.
